Lorman, MS (Sports Network) - The three finalists for Alcorn State football's head coaching vacancy will interview on Tuesday on campus.

Alcorn State's football search committee has narrowed the list of candidates to three former Alcorn State players: Fred McNair, Melvin Spears Jr. and Dwayne White.

McNair, a former ASU standout quarterback and 2005 ASU Sports Hall of Fame inductee, has spent the last two seasons as offensive coordinator for the Mississippi 1A State Champion Mt. Olive high school program.

Spears, a former ASU wide receiver and 2004 ASU Sports Hall of Fame inductee, is the offensive coordinator at Alabama State. He was the head football coach at Grambling State in 2005 and '06.

White, a former ASU offensive lineman and 2005 ASU Sports Hall of Fame inductee, is the president of the NFL Players Association South Florida Chapter. He most recently served as assistant offensive line coach for the 2009 Seattle Seahawks. A 1990 NFL first-round draft pick, he played offensive lineman for the New York Jets and St. Louis Rams from 1990-1996.

Alcorn State administrators hope to announce the new coach's identity on Wednesday.

The Braves finished 5-6 overall and 4-5 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference under head coach Earnest Collins Jr. He had a 8-12 record in two seasons.
