Richmond pair invited to NFL Combine
Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Richmond seniors Martin Parker and Justin Rogers have accepted invitations to participate in the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine this winter in Indianapolis.
All 32 NFL teams will evaluate over 300 of the nation's top college players for the NFL Draft. Participants will be scheduled over four-day periods from Feb. 23 to March 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.
Parker, a 6-foot-3, 283-pound defensive tackle, is a finalist for the 2010 Buck Buchanan Award (sponsored by Fathead.com) which honors the outstanding defensive player in the FCS. He also made The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS All-America First Team after leading all CAA Football defensive linemen in tackles (8.7 per game) and finishing second in the conference in total sacks (5.5) and tackles for loss (13.5).
The 5-10, 181-pound Rogers was an All-CAA first-team pick at both cornerback and punt returner, leading the conference in punt return average (12.4 yards), while collecting 48 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. He also earned All-America third-team honors.
