Russ, Lewis pursue records in NEC matchup
Somerset, NJ (Sports Network) - Those in attendance at DeGol Field for Saturday's NEC matchup between Robert Morris (3-1, 2-0 NEC) and Saint Francis (1-2, 1-0) will likely be witnessing more than just a fierce in-state showdown, as each team features a player on the verge of historic NEC glory.
Robert Morris running back Myles Russ ranks No. 6 in the NEC annals with 3,342 career rushing yards. Russ needs just 73 yards to move past St. Francis great Todd Harris and into the No. 5 position. Russ, who is averaging a stellar 108.5 yards this season, is the NEC's active leader in rushing yards.
Opposing Russ will be St. Francis linebacker Scott Lewis. A three-time All-NEC selection, Lewis stands just 25 tackles shy of the all-time NEC record. Currently, former Sacred Heart linebacker Kayode Mayowa holds the record with 447 career stops.
Robert Morris leads the all-time series over Saint Francis, 13-2-1.
