Mannion made up for his miscue late in the first quarter by connecting with Caleb Smith on a three-yard touchdown pass.

OSU recovered an on-side kick and moved down the field on its next possession to put Romaine in position for a 42-yard field goal try, but his attempt was no good. Ryan Murphy intercepted Wood on the next play from scrimmage to return the ball back to the Beavers, who scored on the following play as Mannion completed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Connor Hamlett. The extra-point attempt was missed by OSU.
Colorado added six points in the closing seconds as Wood found Richardson, who scored on a 28-yard reception. The ensuing two-point conversion was unsuccessful and the game clock ran out moments later.
