Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Chase Rettig threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Johnathan Coleman with 52 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter in order to give the Boston College Eagles a 20-17 win over the Maryland Terrapins in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup at Alumni Stadium.

Rettig finished the day 21-of-39 for 287 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Eagles (2-6, 1-4 ACC) as they snapped a five-game slide. Alex Amidon caught nine passes for 137 yards for the hosts in the triumph as well.

The Terps (4-4, 2-2) were paced by Caleb Rowe, starting at quarterback due to injuries to both Perry Hills and Devin Burns, who hit on 23-of-42 passes for 240 yards and two scores, but he was also picked off three times as the team bowed for the second time in as many outings. Stefon Diggs reeled in 11 passes for 152 yards and a score in the setback.

The Eagles scored the only points of the first half as Rettig combined with Bobby Wolford on a 20-yard TD pass early in the opening frame and then picked up a 36-yard field goal in the second by Nate Freese in order to lead 10-0 at the break.

A 28-yard field goal in the third quarter boosted the advantage to 13-0 before Maryland finally woke up.

Rowe connected with Nigel King on a one-yard TD pass play, followed by a 28- yard field goal by Brendan Magistro.

In the fourth period Rowe hooked up with Stefon Diggs on a 66-yard TD pass play in order to take the lead at 17-13 with 8:47 remaining in the contest.

A 13-play, 85-yard drive by BC that used up almost four minutes on the clock was capped by the Coleman touchdown grab which sealed the victory at home.

Boston College picked up the win despite posting just eight net rushing yards and converting 3-of-13 on third down.
