NCAA Game Summary - UCF at Tulsa

(Saturday, November 17)

Final Score: Tulsa 23, UCF 21

Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Keyarris Garrett caught seven passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns, as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane outlasted the UCF Knights, 23-21, in a matchup between Conference USA division leaders at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

Trey Watts ran for 122 yards on 20 carries to help the Golden Hurricane (9-2, 7-0 C-USA) clinch the conference's West Division. Cody Green completed 21- of-34 passes for 252 yards in the victory.

The Knights (8-3, 6-1) saw their six-game winning streak come to a halt, while they also missed out on a chance to lock up the East Division and homefield advantage for the C-USA Championship. Blake Bortles, who entered the day as the conference leader in passing efficiency, completed only 13-of-31 passes for 169 yards and was sacked four times.

The Golden Hurricane opened the scoring with a 41-yard field goal from Daniel Schwarz midway through the first quarter.

Following a three-and-out by UCF, Tulsa made it a 10-0 game on Green's 70-yard touchdown pass to Garrett.

The second quarter belonged to the Knights. Bortles cut the deficit to 10-7 on a 21-yard TD pass to Breshad Perriman with 10:26 remaining in the half. UCF took the lead at the 3:14 mark of the second quarter, when defensive back A.J. Bouye stepped in front of a Green pass and returned it 76 yards the other way for a touchdown.

Tulsa regrouped at halftime and took the fight back to the Knights in the third quarter. Green found Garrett for a 20-yard scoring strike at the 9:47 mark of the frame, although the PAT was blocked.

Those two hooked up again for a 13-yard touchdown pass and catch on Tulsa's next possession, pushing the margin to 23-14.

UCF made it a 23-21 game on Latavius Murray's two-yard touchdown run with 9:01 remaining in regulation, capping an eight-play, 42-yard drive. However, the Knights were unable to draw any closer the rest of the way.

Tulsa has now beaten 18 of its last 19 C-USA opponents. The Golden Hurricane held a 26-14 edge in first downs and outgained UCF, 461-235.
