Athens, OH (Sports Network) - Tyler Tettleton threw for 255 yards and three
touchdowns to lead the Ohio Bobcats to a 45-14 win over the Eastern Michigan
Eagles on Thursday.
Tettleton completed 19-of-27 passes and also rushed for 32 yards on seven
carries. Ryan Boykin ran for 128 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and Beau
Blakenship picked up 72 yards and a score on the ground for the Bobcats (8-1,
4-1), who bounced back from a 23-20 loss to Miami-Ohio last week.
Tyler Benz completed just 9-of-21 passes for 138 yards, a touchdown and an
interception in the setback. Bronson Hill carried the ball 25 times for 111
yards and Ryan Brumfield picked up 34 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries for
the Eagles (1-8, 0-5), who have dropped two straight since a 48-38 win over
Army on Oct. 20.
The Bobcats scored on their first touch when Blakenship ran it in from 2
yards out.
After going three-and-out, Eastern Michigan forced a fumble on Ohio's next
touch, and tied it at 7-7 four plays later when Benz connected with Ryan
Brumfield for a 17-yard touchdown.
Ohio answered back with a 25-yard field goal on its ensuing possession to cap
an 18-play, 64-yard drive to take a 10-7 lead.
The Bobcats then forced a three-and-out and four plays later Tettleton hooked
up with Chase Cochran for a 7-yard touchdown pass.
After trading punts, Eastern Michigan pulled within 17-14 when Brumfield ran
it in from three yards out, but the Bobcats were able to add a score before
the half ended as Tettleton found Donte Foster along the right sideline for a
19-yard touchdown to give Ohio a 24-17 lead at the break.
EMU's 14-play drive stalled at the Ohio 40-yard line, and the Eagles were able
to pin the Bobcats at their own 1-yard line.
But the poor field position proved to be no match for Ohio, which needed just
three plays to score after Tettleton connected with Donte Foster over the
middle for a 79-yard catch-and-run score to give the Bobcats a commanding
31-14 advantage.
Ohio added a pair of touchdowns in the final quarter to take the decisive
45-14 lead.
