New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Latavius Murray rushed for 146 yards and
one touchdown to lead the way for UCF, as the Knights clobbered the Tulane
Green Wave, 61-14, in a Conference-USA bout at the Louisiana Superdome.
Ronnie Weaver added 58 yards and one touchdown for UCF (8-3, 6-1), which can
clinch the east division title with a win over Memphis in its regular-season
finale. Jeff Godfrey, who rushed for two touchdowns, finished with 133 yards
and two more scores through the air.
Orleans Darkwa led the way for Tulane (4-7, 2-5) with 129 rushing yards and
one touchdown in the loss. Quarterback Kevin Moore rushed for a touchdown, but
finished with just 156 yards through the air and was intercepted once.
Quincy McDuffie returned the opening kick off 95 yards for a touchdown to give
UCF an early 7-0 lead.
Minutes later McDuffie found the end zone again, this time through the air, as
Godfrey connected with the receiver for a 28-yard scoring strike.
Nick Cattoi's 35-yard field goal midway through the opening frame gave the
Knights a 17-0 lead.
A 29-yard TD scamper by Weaver and a 46-yard scoring run by Murray gave UCF a
school-record 31 first quarter points.
It did not stop there however, as the Knights went up 38-0 early in the second
quarter when Godfrey connected with Kamar Aiken for a 60-yard touchdown pass.
Tulane finally got on the scoreboard when Darkwa found the end zone on a
Moore's six-yard touchdown run in the final seconds of the first half sent the
Green Wave into the break down 38-14.
The Knights continued to control the matchup as Godfrey's one-yard run
extended UCF's lead to 45-14.
Godfrey added another one-yard run less than two minutes in the final frame,
and that was followed by a 47-yard kick by Cattoi midway through the quarter,
pushing UCF's advantage to 55-14.
Jordan Ozerities returned an interception 100 yards as time expired to give
the Knights a dominating 47-point victory.
