Boise, ID (Sports Network) - Kellen Moore threw for 298 yards and two
touchdowns, while also adding a TD reception, as No. 2 Boise State trounced
Louisiana Tech, 49-20, at Bronco Stadium.
Doug Martin racked up 150 yards and two scores on 21 carries and Tyler
Shoemaker had six receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown for the Broncos
(7-0, 3-0 WAC), who ran their win streak to 21 in a row and
host Hawaii on November 6.
Austin Pettis posted 55 yards and a touchdown on five catches and also threw
one to Moore as Boise State ripped the visitors for 468 yards of offense.
Ross Jenkins finished with 222 yards and a touchdown on 24-of-39 passing but
was sacked four times for the Bulldogs (3-5, 2-2), who had won two in a row
before a bye last week.
Lennon Creer struck for 149 yards and a pair of TD runs on 35 carries, and
Phillip Livas had three catches for 37 yards and a score in defeat. Louisiana
Tech racked up 25 first downs and 394 yards of total offense against the
nation's best defense, but all for naught.
Louisiana Tech opened the second half with a 23-yard Jenkins-to-Livas scoring
connection, but the extra point was missed and it was 28-13. The visitors then
recovered an onsides kick, but failed to move the ball.
Boise State came right back with a 91-yard drive and took a 35-13 advantage
when Jeremy Avery picked up a loose ball and went 26 yards around the left
side to the end zone. The Broncos recovered a fumble two plays later then
Pettis and Moore hooked up for a seven-yard score and a 42-13 contest.
Martin raced up the middle for a 20-yard touchdown and the rout was on at
49-13 midway through the fourth. Louisiana Tech didn't respond until Creer's
25-yard run for a score inside the final minute.
The home team jumped on top after a two-yard run from Martin capped a brief
drive set up when Louisiana Tech punter Ryan Allen unleashed a 12-yard punt to
the 43-yard line. The Bulldogs responded on the following drive, evening the
score on a one-yard dash from Creer.
Boise State countered with a six-yard TD strike from Moore to Pettis to cap
the first quarter then Shoemaker caught a Moore pass and rolled 32 yards to
the end zone early in the second for a 21-7 game.
It was a 21-point edge at the half as Martin fumbled on a try for the end zone
and Kyle Efaw alertly fell on the ball in the end zone.
BSU has won nine in a row over LTU, and has won nine of the 13 all-time
meetings...The Broncos have outscored their opponents, 334-94, including
156-20 in WAC wins over New Mexico State, San Jose State and Louisiana
Tech...Boise State entered the week third in the BCS standings, behind Auburn
and Oregon, and has dominated at home with 59 straight regular-season wins on
the famed blue turf..Moore, who tied Ryan Dinwiddie's school record of 82
career touchdown passes, was named a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award,
presented annually to the nation's best quarterback.
