Murfreesboro, TN (Sports Network) - Corey Robinson threw three touchdown
passes, as the Troy Trojans dominated the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders,
42-13, in a Sun Belt Conference bout at Floyd Stadium.
Robinson completed 26-of-37 passes for 259 yards for the four-time defending
Sun Belt Conference champion Trojans (3-2, 2-0 Sun Belt), who have won the
last five meetings with Middle Tennessee. Jamie Hampton threw a touchdown pass
before being carted off the field with a left leg injury.
DuJuan Harris carried the ball 11 times for 80 yards and a score for Troy,
which also got a rushing touchdown from D.J. Taylor.
Tebiarus Gill caught five passes for 31 yards and two touchdowns, while Jerrel
Jernigan and Jamel Johnson each had a receiving TD.
Dwight Dasher, who missed the first four contests of the season while he
served an NCAA suspension for improperly accepting a loan, connected on 22-
of-37 passes for 172 yards and a pick for the Blue Raiders (2-3, 1-1). Dasher
also carried the ball 14 times for 27 yards and two touchdowns.
Middle Tennessee was limited to 207 yards of total offense in a battle for the
Palladium Trophy. The Trojans had 519 total yards.
Troy wasted little time in taking control of the game. The Trojans put
together an eight-play, 55-yard drive on their second possession. Hampton
finished the march with a three-yard touchdown pass to Jernigan.
Middle Tennessee received a scare on its second series of the contest. Dasher
landed on his left hand and suffered a dislocated left pinkie. Jeff Murphy
took over at quarterback for the time being.
Murphy fumbled on the next Blue Raiders possession, which led to Robinson's
five-yard TD pass to Gill. The 14-0 score held up for the remainder of the
Dasher returned to the field in the second period, but Middle Tennessee
continued to struggle on offense. Taylor's three-yard rushing touchdown
made it 21-0 with over six minutes remaining.
The Blue Raiders initial first down of the second stanza didn't come until
their last drive of the half. Dasher capped a nine-play, 63-yard march with a
one-yard rushing TD. That score made it a 21-7 contest at the break.
Gill's nine-yard touchdown catch with under two minutes to play in the third
quarter gave the Trojans a 28-7 margin.
