Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Jerry Davis threw for 241 yards and three
touchdowns to lead the Buffalo Bulls to a 28-26 victory over the Bowling Green
Falcons in a Mid-American Conference battle at Doyt Perry Stadium.
Davis completed 19 of his 34 passes in the win for Buffalo (2-3, 1-0 MAC),
which snapped a three-game slide, but the signal-caller was also responsible
for four interceptions. Jeffvon Gill and Ike Nduka led the Bulls ground attack
with 52 and 47 yards, respectively, with Nduka registering a touchdown as
well. Terrell Jackson hauled in seven passes for 90 yards and a touchdown for
the Bulls, while Marcus Rivers grabbed five balls for 59 yards and a score.
Aaron Pankratz threw for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the way
for Bowling Green (1-4, 0-1), but also threw three costly interceptions in the
loss, the squad's second consecutive setback. Willie Geter and Tyrone Pronty
were responsible for 63 yards and a touchdown apiece, but the Falcons amassed
just nine yards rushing as a team in the contest.
The Falcons struck first in this one, as Jordan Hopgood found the end zone
following a five-yard scamper. An extra-point attempt by Bryan Wright missed
however, leaving Bowling Green with a 6-0 lead.
Buffalo took a 7-6 lead early in the second quarter after a one-yard Nduka
The Falcons reclaimed the lead late in the frame with a 49-yard toss from
Pankratz to Pronty, but a 24-yard strike from Davis to Alex Neutz with under
30 seconds remaining in the half gave the Bulls a 14-13 halftime lead.
The Bulls made it 28-13 early in the third quarter with a seven-yard toss from
Jerry Davis to Rivers as well as a Davis nine-yard scoring pass to found
The Falcons fought back in the fourth quarter, as Robert Lorenzi took an
interception back 82 yards for a score early in the stanza. A two-point
conversion attempt, however, failed.
Midway through the frame, Pankratz pulled the Falcons to within 28-26 with a
48-yard completion to Geter.
Buffalo finished the day with 200 yards rushing and 441 yards of total
offense, compared to a mere 176 yards for BGSU.
