NCAA Game Summary - Central Michigan at Temple

(Thursday, September 9th)

Final Score: Temple 13, Central Michigan 10 (OT)

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Brandon McManus hit a 30-yard field goal in overtime to lift Temple over Central Michigan, 13-10, in a Mid-American Conference clash at Lincoln Financial Field.

Chester Stewart finished 16-of-22 for 151 yards for the Owls (2-0, 1-0 MAC), who won the first two games of a season for the first time since 1981 when they topped William & Mary and Syracuse.

Bernard Pierce left the game with a left-hand injury late in the contest, but racked up 57 yards and a score on 10 carries.

Ryan Radcliff went 25-of-35 for 299 yards and a pair of interceptions for the Chippewas (1-1, 0-1), who opened up their season with a 33-0 win over Hampton.

Cody Wilson led all receivers with seven receptions for 153 yards while Paris Cotton gained 40 yards and a TD on 16 carries in defeat.

Pierce rolled in from the four with 1:33 left in the first half to give Temple a 7-0 advantage.

The visitors knotted the score with 7:45 to play in the third as Cotton rumbled into the end zone for a one-yard score, capping a four-play, 82-yard drive.

McManus followed by ending Temple's ensuing drive with a 31-yard field goal for a 10-7 Owls advantage.

Central Michigan converted a 4th-and-5 from the Temple 29 inside three minutes to play, but a fumble and two interceptions stalled the charge and led to a successful 31-yard attempt with 1:11 to play from David Harman that tied the game 10-10.

Radcliff was picked off in the end zone by Kee-ayre Griffin during Central Michigan's opening possession of overtime. Temple got McManus within striking range on its drive after five straight rushes to the CMU 13.
