Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Terrance Cain threw for 174 yards and two scores, and ran for another touchdown, as 24th-ranked Utah picked up a landmark victory with a 35-15 win over UNLV.

Cain completed 17-of-24 passes and ran for 22 yards for Utah (5-1, 2-0 Mountain West), which recorded the 600th win in school history. The Utes have won three in a row since suffering their lone loss of the season, at Oregon on September 19.

Omar Clayton completed 23-of-44 passes for 223 yards, but had no touchdowns and was picked off twice. Phillip Payne caught seven passes for 58 yards and a TD from Mike Clausen, as UNLV (2-5, 0-3) tumbled to its fourth straight loss.

The Rebels got on the board first, courtesy of Kyle Watson's 21-yard field goal nearly six minutes into the contest.

Cain's six-yard TD strike to Aiona Key capped a 10-play drive to put Utah in front with 1:58 left in the first quarter, but Watson's 26-yarder less than two minutes into the second frame pulled UNLV within 7-6.

But Utah notched three scores before halftime to pull away: Cain's six-yard pass to Ben Hendy with 7:29 left, Cain's three-yard run with 5:17 on the clock, and Robert Johnson's 64-yard fumble return following Christian Cox's interception of Clayton, which made it a 28-6 game.

Clausen's two-yard pass to Payne provided the Rebels with their lone TD with 9:07 left in the third, and Watson tacked on a 37-yard kick with 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the stanza to pull UNLV within 28-15.

But the Utes responded with a 37-yard scoring run from Wide, which put Utah up 20 with 13 minutes to play, and they held on from there.
