NCAA Game Summary - New Mexico State at San Diego State

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Walter Kazee rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown as the San Diego State Aztecs defeated the New Mexico State Aggies, 34-17, in a non-league affair at Qualcomm Stadium.

Ryan Lindley threw for 123 yards and one touchdown for SDSU (2-3), but the signal caller only completed 7-of-27 passes and also threw an interception.

Trevor Walls completed 8-of-12 passes for NMSU (2-3) and finished the game with 103 yards and one touchdown. However, Walls was also intercepted once and sacked twice. Jeff Fleming started the game under center, but completed just 7-of-14 throws for 43 yards.

After a scoreless first quarter the Aggies grabbed a 7-0 edge over San Diego State, thanks to a two-yard touchdown pass from Fleming to Kenny Evora.

The Aztecs evened the score just minutes later when Dey Juan Hemmings returned a fumble 14 yards for a touchdown.

Lane Yoshida added a 23-yard field goal for SDSU with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.

Midway through the third quarter Davon Brown hit Vincent Brown for a 21-yard scoring strike, pushing San Diego State's lead to 17-7.

New Mexico State cut its deficit to 17-10 when Kyle Hughes connected on a 34- yard field goal.

The Aggies continued to fight and tied the score at 17 apiece early in the fourth quarter, as Walls connected with Todd Lee for a 16-yard touchdown.

However, San Diego State dominated the remainder of the contest, as Lindley hit Willie Watters with a five-yard scoring strike. That was followed by an 18-yard field goal by Yoshida, and the icing on the cake was a three-yard touchdown run by Kazee, which gave the Aztecs a 34-17 victory.
