Final Score: Middle Tennessee 27, Florida Atlantic 20

Fort Lauderdale, FL (Sports Network) - Dwight Dasher's 74-yard touchdown run with 5:31 remaining made the difference, as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders topped the Florida Atlantic Owls, 27-20, in a Sun Belt Conference battle at Lockhart Stadium.

Dasher threw for just 90 yards on 7-of-21 tosses, but he had 108 yards on the ground, helping MT (5-3, 3-1 SBC) win its second game in a row. D.D. Kyles also had a strong performance, as he rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

Rusty Smith led the way for FAU (2-5, 2-2), completing 23-of-45 pass attempts for 304 yards, with two touchdowns against two picks. He, however, left the game with five minutes left due to an injured shoulder.

The Owls scored the first points of the game with a 38-yard field goal by Ross Gornall midway through the opening quarter. FAU added to its lead late in the frame, as Smith threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Avery Holley.

MT's special teams then stepped in and Sherman Neal returned a blocked punt 29 yards to paydirt.

Alan Gendreau knotted the score on a 46-yard field goal for the Raiders early in the second quarter.

FAU regained the lead midway through the second period, as Cortez Gent pulled in an 18-yard touchdown pass from Smith.

On the last play of the first half, Gendreau connected on a 23-yard field goal for the Raiders.

Following a scoreless third quarter, Gornall extended FAU's lead to 20-13 with a 42-yard field goal just seconds into the final period.

MT answered just over a minute later, as Kyles scored on an eight-yard run. The Raiders would then go ahead for good, when Dasher scampered 74 yards for a score with 5:31 left to play.

The Owls piled up 478 yards of total offense and possessed the ball for nearly 40 minutes, but committed two turnovers and failed to convert on three of its five fourth-down chances.
