(Saturday, November 21st)

Final Score: Southern Miss 44, Tulsa 34

Hattiesburg, MS (Sports Network) - Martevious Young threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns on just 12 completions to lead the Southern Miss Golden Eagles to a 44-34 triumph over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a Conference USA clash.

DeAndre Brown made three catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns for Southern Miss (7-4, 5-2).

G.J. Kinne threw for 396 yards and two touchdowns in defeat for Tulsa (4-7, 2-5), and the quarterback also rushed for 88 yards and a score.

Southern Miss opened the scoring early in the first quarter with a 60-yard touchdown pass from Young to Johdrick Morris. Unfortunately, the extra point attempt failed.

As a result of that botched kick, Tulsa was able to take a 7-6 lead on a two- yard touchdown run by Charles Clay. Then, with 25 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Clay hauled in a three-yard touchdown pass from Kinne, making the score 14-6.

Southern Miss scored back-to-back touchdowns early in the second quarter to claim a 20-14 lead. After a 12-yard scoring strike from Young to Tracy Lampley, Ronnie Thornton recovered a fumble and raced 42 yards for a touchdown.

Kinnie wasted little time reclaiming a lead for Tulsa, as a 55-yard touchdown run on the ensuing possession gave the Golden Hurricane a 21-20 edge.

The Golden Eagles answered back less than three minutes later with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Young to DeAndre Brown, as he lifted his team to a 27-21 advantage.

With 1:39 remaining before halftime, Tulsa got a one-yard touchdown run by Clay, enabling the team to grab a 28-27 lead.

Southern Miss once again had an answer, as Tory Harrison's one-yard touchdown plunge with 34 seconds remaining in the first half enabled his team to hold a 34-28 edge at the break.

The Golden Eagles pulled away in the third quarter with a 95-yard touchdown pass from Young to Brown, as well as a 25-yard Daniel Hrapmann field goal.

Tulsa scored the only points of the fourth quarter on a six-yard touchdown pass from Kinne to Clay.

The Golden Hurricane finished the game with a 589-439 advantage in total yards, but Tulsa finished with three turnovers compared to zero for Southern Miss.
