NCAA Game Summary - Nevada at Louisiana Tech

Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - Colin Kaepernick completed 24-of-42 pass attempts for 397 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Nevada Wolfpack to a 35-31 comeback victory over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in a Western Athletic Conference tilt at Joe Aillet Stadium.

Marko Mitchell was Kaepernick's favorite target, hauling in six passes for 153 yards and two scores, while Mike McCoy came down with six catches for 109 yards and a score. Vai Taua paced the Wolfpack's (7-5, 5-3 WAC) ground attack 61 yards and a score on 22 carries.

The Bulldogs (7-5, 5-3) were led by Ross Jenkins, who completed 17-of-31 pass attempts for 258 yards and two touchdowns. Patrick Jackson also had a big day, carrying the ball 10 times for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Louisiana Tech took a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter, when Jenkins threw a 26-yard touchdown strike to Shane Womack.

The Wolfpack tied things up early in the second quarter, as Kaepernick hooked up with Chris Wellington for a nine-yard score.

Three plays later, the Bulldogs responded with a 20-yard touchdown run from Daniel Porter.

Louisiana Tech made it a 17-7 game late in the first half, with a 22-yard field goal by Brad Oestriecher.

The Wolfpack scored on its first drive of the third quarter, when Kaepernick and Mitchell hooked up from 62 yards out to make it a 17-14 game.

The Bulldogs answered on their ensuing drive when Jenkins connected with Philip Livas for a 44-yard touchdown strike.

Jackson extended the Bulldogs' lead to 31-14 late in the third quarter on a four-yard touchdown run.

Nevada responded on its final drive of the third quarter, when Kaepernick found Mitchell from 18 yards out to make it a 31-21 game entering the final quarter.

The Wolfpack scored again on its opening drive of the fourth quarter with Kaepernick and McCoy hooking up again, this time from 27 yards out to cut the deficit to 31-28.

Nevada scored the go-ahead touchdown at the 3:15 mark of the fourth quarter, when Taua ripped off a 22-yard touchdown run to seal the four-point victory.

Nevada's running game was held to 2.5 ypc, but Kaepernick made up for it with plenty of big plays in the passing game.
