College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Quarterback Josh Freeman scored four
touchdowns on the ground to lead the Kansas State Wildcats over the Texas A&M
Aggies, 44-30, in Big 12 action at Kyle Field.
Freeman rushed for 95 yards on 18 carries, in addition to throwing for 234
yards on 21-of-26 pass attempts. Logan Dold paced KSU (4-2, 1-1 Big12) with
115 rushing yards and a score on 21 totes, while Aubrey Quarles grabbed nine
passes for 102 yards. With the win, the Wildcats snapped a five-game losing
streak to Texas A&M that dated back to 1997.
Jerrod Johnson had a big day for the Aggies (2-4, 0-2), as he threw for a
school-record 419 yards and a pair of scores while rushing for 68 more yards
and another touchdown. His main target was clearly Ryan Tannehill, who
finished with 12 receptions for 210 yards and a touchdown. The Aggies are now
0-2 in the Big 12 for the first time ever.
KSU kicked off the scoring with a 12-yard touchdown run by Freeman just over
three minutes into the game.
A late 26-yard field goal by Randy Bullock put the Aggies on the board for the
It took the Wildcats just 13 seconds into the second quarter to strike again,
as they blocked a punt and Courtney Herndon returned it 10 yards to paydirt.
The extra-point try, though, was off the mark and KSU led 13-3.
KSU then put together a 13-play, 93-yard drive that was capped by four-yard
touchdown run by Dold.
An 11-yard touchdown run by Freeman gave the Wildcats a 27-3 lead late in the
Jorvorskie Lane plunged one yard for a score with just under two minutes left
before the half and Texas A&M went to the break down 27-10.
Midway though the third quarter KSU added to its lead courtesy of a 49-yard
field goal by Brooks Rossman.
The Aggies responded late in the period with a Johnson five-yard touchdown
run. The extra-point attempt, though, was missed, leaving the score at 30-16.
With under five minutes left to play both teams were able to find the end zone
twice. Freeman started things with a one-yard touchdown run that finished a
16-play, 98-yard drive that spanned over 10 minutes.
Johnson threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Mike Goodson to make it a 37-23
With just over a minute left, Freeman completed his tremendous effort with a
four-yard touchdown run.
A 55-yard scoring strike from Johnson to Tannehill with 31 seconds left
capped the scoring.
