NCAA Game Summary - U-C-F at Boston College

(Saturday, September 20th)

Final Score: Boston College 34, UCF 7

Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Chris Crane ran for two touchdowns and passed for a third as he led the Boston College Eagles to a commanding 34-7 win over the UCF Knights in non-conference action at Alumni Stadium.

Crane, who was benched in favor of Dominique Davis in the first quarter, finished the day with 31 yards on the ground for the Eagles (2-1) and also hit 16-of-34 passing for 207 yards, but was picked off three times. Davis stepped in to convert 4-of-7 for 30 yards and a TD in the victory, while Montel Harris ran for a game-high 112 yards on 13 attempts.

The Knights (1-2) were paced by Michael Greco who gained 54 yards and scored the only touchdown of the game for the team on one of his six rushing attempts. Unfortunately, as a passer Greco didn't perform all that well as he made good on just 12-of-24 for 92 yards and was intercepted three times. Adding to the team's troubles was backup Rob Calabrese who also threw an interception on one of his eight passing chances.

Following a scoreless first quarter, BC kicker Steve Aponavicius knocked through a 22-yard field goal at the 1:12 mark of the second frame.

On the ensuing possession the Knights and Greco made their way into the end zone on a one-yard run as time expired, giving the visitors a 7-3 edge at the break.

In the third quarter Crane bounced back with rushing TDs of one and two yards to put the Eagles back ahead to stay at 17-7.

Crane's 48-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Robinson early in the fourth quarter was followed by a 25-yard field goal by Aponavicius, with a three-yard TD pass from Davis to Lars Anderson to close out the contest and provide the Eagles with the convincing 27-point triumph. Robinson finished the game with seven catches for 109 yards.

UCF, which controlled the ball for less than 25 minutes on the day, converted only 5-of-17 on third down.
