Annapolis, MD (Sports Network) - Third-string quarterback Ricky Dobbs ran for
224 yards and four touchdowns, as the Navy Midshipmen cruised past the SMU
Mustangs, 34-7, in a non-league matchup at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Starting quarterback Jarod Bryant left the game with a shoulder injury in the
first quarter, which opened the door for Dobbs' big day. With their ground
game so dominant (404 yards on 77 attempts), the Midshipmen (5-3) didn't
attempt a single pass. The last team to play a game without attempting a pass
was Ohio University in 1997.
In contrast, SMU (1-8) had 11 rushing attempts for minus-13 yards as a team.
