(Saturday, October 25th)

Final Score: Mississippi State 31, Middle Tennessee 22

Starkville, MS (Sports Network) - Anthony Dixon ran for three touchdowns as he led the Mississippi State Bulldogs to a 31-22 win over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in non-conference play at Scott Field.

Dixon carried the ball 27 times for 126 yards for the Bulldogs (3-5) as they posted their second win in the last three outings. Quarterback Tyson Lee converted 17-of-25 passing for 197 yards as well.

The Blue Raiders (2-6), losers of three in a row, were paced by Joe Craddock who hit on 23-of-40 passing for 235 yards and a touchdown in the setback.

Mississippi State moved out to a 7-0 advantage early in the first quarter when Dixon carried the ball into the end zone from four yards out.

On the ensuing possession Alan Gendreau converted the first of his three field goals on the night, the initial effort coming from 30 yards away.

Dixon's 62-yard touchdown scamper less than two minutes later made the score 14-3 in favor of the home team.

In the second frame Gendreau's 18-yard field goal was followed by a 14-yard touchdown pass from Craddock to Eldred King, which left the Bulldogs with just a 14-13 edge at the break. King finished the night with 11 catches for 164 yards.

Gendreau's 23-yard field goal at the 9:55 mark of the third actually gave Middle Tennessee a brief 16-14 lead before the Bulldogs ripped off 17 unanswered points.

Lee capped a 12-play, 69-yard drive five and a half minutes later with a five- yard TD run for Mississippi State, followed by a 37-yard field goal for Adam Carlson and a one-yard TD run for Dixon to make the score 31-16.

Phillip Tanner, who led the Blue Raiders with a mere 29 yards rushing on eight attempts, scored on a one-yard run for the visitors, but after a failed two- point conversion attempt Middle Tennessee was left with the nine-point loss.

The Bulldogs put together a well-balanced attack with 169 yards rushing and 197 yards through the air and scored on all four opportunities inside the red zone.
