NCAA Game Summary - Middle Tennessee at Memphis

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Freshman Dwight Dasher threw for 230 yards and a touchdown, and ran for another 180 yards and a touchdown to lead the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders to a 21-7 win over the Memphis Tigers in non-conference action at the Liberty Bowl.

Dasher, who has replaced injured starter Joe Craddock at quarterback for the past four games, went 16-of-26 with one interception, in addition to carrying 19 times. DeMarco McNair had 17 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown for Middle Tennessee (2-5).

For Memphis (2-4), Will Hudgens struggled mightily under center, completing just 13-of-35 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.

Middle Tennessee opened the game with an 80-yard scoring drive, punctuated by a 55-yard scoring strike from Dasher to McNair.

Memphis tied the game later in the opening quarter on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Hudgens to Duke Calhoun, as the first half would end in a 7-7 tie.

McNair's one-yard touchdown run marked the only scoring in the third quarter.

The Blue Raiders added an insurance touchdown with 3:46 to play in regulation, as Dasher dashed through the Memphis defense for a 61-yard touchdown run.

The Middle Tennessee defense played exceptionally well, limiting Memphis to just 13 first downs and 248 yards of total offense for the game.
