NCAA Game Summary - Western Kentucky at Middle Tennessee

Murfreesboro, TN (Sports Network) - K.J. Black threw the game-winning touchdown to Jake Gaebler in the fourth quarter as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers downed the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, 20-17, at Floyd Stadium.

Black finished 5-for-7 with 74 yards while Tyrell Hayden had 144 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries for the Hilltoppers (3-1), who have won three straight games.

Dwight Dasher went 14-for-24 for 169 yards while DeMarco McNair had two touchdowns with 23 yards on 11 carries for the Blue Raiders (0-4).

With the Blue Raiders holding a 17-13 lead, Western Kentucky took the lead on the first play of the fourth quarter as Black connected with Gaebler on a 22- yard touchdown for a 20-17 lead.

The Blue Raiders drove down the field on their last possession of the game, but Matt King missed a 34-yard field goal as time expired.

The Blue Raiders took a 3-0 lead with just 1:23 left in the first quarter on a 19-yard field goal from King.

However, the Hilltoppers took the lead in the second quarter as Chris James connected on a 41-yard field goal to tie the game and Hayden gave the team a 10-3 lead on a nine-yard touchdown run with 7:43 remaining in the first half.

Middle Tennessee, though, tied the game with just 62 seconds left in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run from McNair.

Western Kentucky took the lead in the third quarter on a 34-yard field goal from James with 6:14 left in the third.

The Blue Raiders, though, regained the lead as McNair's four-yard touchdown run with 3:13 left in the third made it a 17-13 contest.
