NCAA Game Summary - Wyoming at Boise State

(Saturday, September 15th)

Final Score: Boise State 24, Wyoming 14

Boise, ID (Sports Network) - Taylor Tharp threw for a pair of touchdowns as the Boise State Broncos made their way back into the win column with a 24-14 triumph against the Wyoming Cowboys in non-conference action from Bronco Stadium.

Boise State (2-1), which had the nation's longest win streak snapped at 14 games last week, fell out of the national rankings as a result. Tharp finished the night 15-of-30 for 182 yards and survived three sacks in picking up the victory.

"Wyoming is tough first and foremost, credit goes to their defense, their team," noted Tharp following the contest. "I've got respect for their coaches and players. We knew that those guys were going to come out and play us hard because its one of their best starts in the last four or five years under Coach Glenn and they came out hard."

The Cowboys (2-1), one of the toughest defenses in the country, were paced by Karsten Sween who converted 26-of-48 for 227 yards and a touchdown, but he too was sacked three times and was intercepted once.

Following a scoreless first quarter BSU scored the only points of the half when D.J. Harper made it into the end zone on an eight-yard run, giving the home team a 7-0 edge at the break.

The third period saw the Broncos get two passing scores from Tharp, the first a 52-yard effort to Jeremy Childs and the second a nine-yard connection with Chris O'Neill.

At the 9:18 mark of the fourth the Cowboys finally got on the scoreboard with a 21-yard TD strike from Sween to Devin Moore. Wynel Seldon, who finished with just 19 rushing yards on eight attempts, added a two-yard TD run with less than a minute to play.

Between the two Wyoming scores the Broncos padded their advantage with a 27- yard field goal by Kyle Brotzman to leave Boise with the 10-point home win.

The Pokes, who controlled the ball for less than 26 minutes, generated only 24 yards on the ground and 262 yards of offense overall.
