Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Brandon McAnderson rushed for 105 yards and
two touchdowns, as the Kansas Jayhawks posted a convincing, 55-3 victory over
the Florida International Golden Panthers in a non-league matchup from the
Todd Reesing threw for 368 yards and one score in the victory for Kansas
(4-0), while also rushing for 47 yards and another touchdown.
As for the Golden Panthers (0-4), they were led by Wayne Younger who threw for
just 133 yards. The signal caller also led the team with 58 rushing yards.
Dakota Lewis recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown early in
the first quarter, giving the Jayhawks a 7-0 edge.
A 30-yard field goal by Scott Webb midway through the quarter put the Jayhawks
The Golden Panthers cut their deficit to 10-3 when Chris Abed nailed a 42-yard
field goal, but that would be the last points FIU would put on the scoreboard.
Midway through the second quarter, the Jayhawks extended their lead to 17-3
when Reesing scampered into the end zone on a nine-yard run.
With just under five minutes remaining in the first half Webb connected on a
37-yard kick to push Kansas' lead to 20-3.
The Jayhawks continued their domination, scoring three touchdowns in the third
frame, starting with a 19-yard scoring strike from Reesing to Derek Fine.
Less than two minutes later Jake Sharp rumbled into the end zone on a one-yard
A 23-yard touchdown run by McAnderson late in the third quarter extended the
Jayhawks' edge to 41-3.
Early in the fourth stanza Aqib Talib returned an interception 100 yards for a
touchdown, pushing Kansas' lead to a commanding 48-3 advantage.
The final score in the contest was a five-yard run by McAnderson. The
touchdown brought the score to 55-3, which would eventually be the final
Kansas racked up an outstanding 615 total yards, while Florida International
tallied 255 yards of offense.
