NCAA Game Summary - Baylor at Kansas State

Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - Josh Freeman threw three touchdowns and rushed for two more, as the Kansas State Wildcats cruised past the Baylor Bears, 51-13, in Big 12 Conference action at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Freeman completed 22-of-33 tosses for 247 yards and he also ran for 19 yards on 10 carries, as KSU (5-3, 3-2 Big12) improved to 4-1 at home. Jordy Nelson also had a big game, pulling down eight balls for 105 yards and a score, in addition to returning a punt 92 yards for a touchdown. Daniel Gonzalez added eight catches for 105 yards and a score, while Leon Patton rushed for 113 yards on 17 totes.

Michael Machen started at quarterback for Baylor (3-6, 0-5), but he threw for just 92 yards and two interceptions. Blake Szymanski, who didn't start because of migraine headaches, came on in relief and passed for 213 yards and two scores. Thomas White hauled in four balls for 118 yards and two touchdowns, as the Bears dropped their eighth straight conference game.

Midway through the first quarter, KSU took the lead courtesy of a Freeman one- yard touchdown plunge.

Brooks Rossman nailed a 34-yard field goal less than two minutes later and the Wildcats held a 10-0 lead after one quarter of play.

Early in the second quarter, Rossman struck again, this time from 34 yards out. He added a 33-yard field goal late in the period to push the Wildcats' lead to 16-0.

With just over two minutes to play before the half, Baylor got on the board, as Szymanski threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to White. The extra-point attempt was off the mark and the Bears trailed 16-6 at the break.

It took KSU just two minutes to score in the second half, as Freeman hooked up with Deon Murphy on a 22-yard touchdown pass.

The Wildcats continued to pour it on and made it a 30-6 game behind a Freeman 40-yard touchdown pass to Gonzalez late in the third quarter.

Just 30 seconds later, KSU struck again, as Freeman completed a six-yard touchdown pass to Nelson.

The Bears stopped some of the bleeding early in the fourth quarter behind a White 37-yard touchdown reception from Szymanski.

Just over three minutes later, the Wildcats pushed their lead to 44-13 on a Freeman one-yard touchdown run.

With just 31 seconds left in the game, Nelson returned a punt 92 yards for a score, as KU earned the posted the 51-13 victory.

During the game, Nelson broke the school's single-season record for receptions with his 76th catch. He surpassed Darnell McDonald, who made 75 catches in 1988.

The Wildcats' defense played a big part in this game, as they recorded five sacks and forced seven turnovers.
