NCAA Game Summary - Colorado at Baylor

Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Cody Hawkins completed 17-of-26 passing for 293 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Colorado Buffaloes to a 43-23 victory over the Baylor Bears in a Big 12 Conference matchup at Floyd Casey Stadium.

Hugh Charles ran for 122 yards on 20 attempts for the Buffaloes (4-2, 2-0 Big 12), and Josh Smith contributed 103 yards receiving on just two receptions. Dusty Sprague grabbed five passes for 95 yards and a score in the Colorado victory, and Demetrius Sumler scored three touchdowns.

Blake Szymanski completed 36-of-60 for 410 yards and a touchdown but threw two interceptions in the Baylor (3-3, 0-2) loss, while Brandon Whitaker hauled in 11 passes for 166 yards for the Bears.

Hawkins completed a 26-yard touchdown pass to Sprague early in the first quarter and the Buffaloes took a 7-0 lead.

A 41-yard field goal by Kevin Eberhart late in the period extended the Colorado advantage to 10-0.

The Buffaloes increased their lead early in the second quarter, as Hawkins completed a seven-yard touchdown strike to Sumler.

Baylor got on the board midway through the period with a 26-yard field goal by Shea Brewster.

Sumler scored on a three-yard run late in the frame, giving Colorado a 24-3 lead.

Less than a minute later, Baylor got into the end zone on a two-yard plunge by Whitaker.

With a minute remaining in the half, Eberhart hit a 44-yard field goal to give Colorado a 27-9 lead.

Eberhart struck again in the closing seconds of the first half, this time from 54 yards away, and the Buffaloes went into the break with a 30-9 advantage.

Eberhart hit a 42-yard field goal early in the third quarter to increase the Colorado lead to 33-9.

Midway through the period, Sumler plunged into the end zone from two yards away to give the Buffaloes a 31-point lead.

The Bears made it a 40-16 game late in the frame, as Szymanski completed an 18- yard pass to Justin Akers.

Colorado padded its lead early in the fourth quarter with yet another Eberhart field goal, a 30-yard kick that extended the Buffaloes lead to 43-16.

Jay Finley put Baylor on the board once more late in the period with a four- yard TD run, leaving the Buffs with the 20-point triumph.

Colorado, which controlled the ball for more than 33 minutes on the night, held the Bears to a mere 55 yards rushing on 18 attempts.
