NCAA Game Summary - Georgia at Georgia Tech

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Thomas Brown ran for 139 yards and a touchdown to lead the sixth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs to a 31-17 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Matthew Stafford threw for 214 yards on 14-of-29 passing with a touchdown for the Bulldogs (10-2), who ended the regular season tied with Tennessee in the Eastern Division of the SEC, but lose the tiebreaker after the Vols defeated Georgia 35-14 in early October. It will now be the Volunteers who will take on LSU in the SEC Championship Game on December 1st.

Stafford also added a rushing score while Mohamed Massaquoi had six catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Tashard Choice had 134 yards on the ground and a touchdown for the Yellow Jackets (7-5), who have lost seven straight to the Bulldogs. Taylor Bennett struggled behind center, completing just 9-of-27 passes for 137 yards with a touchdown and interception.

With 58 seconds remaining in the opening quarter, Brandon Coutu drilled a 45- yard field goal to end a 12-play, 49-yard drive to put Georgia on top. Brown had a 32-yard run on the scoring drive.

Early in the second quarter, Choice busted a 12-yard touchdown run up the middle to make it 7-3. Choice had 32 yards rushing on four carries during the scoring drive.

With just under 9 1/2 minutes to play in the second stanza, Stafford broke a tackle in the backfield and scampered 31 yards into the end zone to give the Bulldogs a 10-7 lead.

The Yellow Jackets jumped in front at 14-10 after Colin Peek caught a pass at around the 10-yard line and rumbled his way across the goal line for a 17-yard score with two minutes left in the first half.

Stafford and Georgia quickly answered and just 58 seconds later grabbed the lead after Massaquoi caught a nine-yard touchdown pass. The point after attempt failed, making the score 16-14.

The Bulldogs scored the lone touchdown of the third quarter as Brannan Southerland pounded his way across the goal line from three yards out to make it 23-14 with 1:46 remaining.

A 44-yard field goal by Travis Bell pulled the Yellow Jackets within 23-17 early in the fourth quarter. Bell's three points ended a six-play, 33-yard drive.

Georgia increased its lead to 14 points with 11:07 to play in the fourth after Brown burst down the left sideline for a 32-yard touchdown run. The Bulldogs went for two on the play and got it after Stafford connected with Kenneth Harris made it 31-17.

Game Notes

The Bulldogs won six straight games to end the regular season...Georgia owns a 59-36-5 lead in the all-time series with Georgia Tech...The Bulldogs seven- game winning streak over the Yellow Jackets is their longest in the rivalry.
