Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - Nebraska's defense scored three touchdowns, as the Cornhuskers went on to the defeat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 31-3, in a non-conference battle.

Nebraska held Wake Forest to just 247 total yards and forced four turnovers in the victory.

Zac Taylor completed 14-of-33 passes for 114 yards and one score for Nebraska (2-0), while Cory Ross led the ground game with 123 yards on 20 carries.

Ben Mauk struggled throughout the contest, completing just 12-of-27 passes for 117 yards to go along with three interceptions for Wake Forest (0-2). Micah Andrews led the ground game with 64 yards on 19 carries.

The Cornhuskers started the scoring when Corey McKeon returned an interception 38 yards midway through the first quarter.

With just over two minutes remaining in the opening frame Dan Bullocks returned a fumble 30-yards, extending the Cornhuskers' lead to 14-0.

Sam Swank connected on a 51-yard field goal as time expired in the half to put the Deacons on the board and cut their deficit to 11 points at the break.

Early in the third frame Taylor found Frantz Hardy for a four-yard touchdown pass, pushing the Cornhuskers' lead to 21-3. Jordan Congdon netted a 21-yard field goal late in the third quarter to give Nebraska a commanding 24-3 advantage.

The Cornhuskers' defense struck again early in the fourth quarter, as Stewart Bradley intercepted a pass, taking it 43 yards to pay dirt.
