Terrence Edwards announces retirement

Winnipeg, MB ( - Terrence Edwards has decided to hang up his cleats.

The wide receiver announced his retirement on Tuesday in a release through the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, for whom he played seven of his nine seasons in the CFL.

"I've had a great run in this league, and made countless friends and memories I will forever cherish," said Edwards. "This city and the Blue Bomber organization have been so good to my family and me, and I just cannot thank them enough for everything they have done. Also, I would really like to acknowledge and thank the fans of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The support we get as players is amazing, and that is one of the best things I will take away from my time in Winnipeg."

Edwards ranks fourth all-time in Winnipeg history with 7,200 receiving yards, and retires with 508 career catches for 7,637 yards and 47 touchdowns.

The Georgia product joined the Blue Bombers in May 2007 after spending the previous two seasons with Montreal.
