Alouettes RB Whitaker done for year with ACL tear

Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Montreal Alouettes running back Brandon Whitaker will miss the remainder of the 2012 season due to a torn ACL, an injury he suffered during the Als' 28-17 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday.

Whitaker, the CFL's leading rusher last season, had a solid offensive performance against the Roughriders before leaving with the injury in the fourth quarter. In addition to running for 45 yards and a touchdown, he also amassed 102 receiving yards and returned two missed field goals for 80 yards.

Through Week 12, Whitaker was the Als' leading scorer, running for 631 yards with four rushing touchdowns and catching 49 passes for 516 yards and five touchdowns.

The team also said that receiver Brian Bratton, who caught a touchdown in Sunday's win, will miss a few weeks with a hyperextended right knee.

The Alouettes next play at home on Sunday against the Toronto Argonauts.
