GAME NOTES: The Morehead State Eagles look to stay perfect in Ohio Valley Conference action as they invade the Dunn Center to battle the Austin Peay Governors.

Morehead State notched its third win in a row on Saturday as it coasted to a 65-50 decision over Eastern Illinois. The Eagles' current winning streak has risen them a .500 overall record and perfect 2-0 mark in OVC play. Coach Sean Woods does not have an overwhelming offensive or defensive squad, but his Eagles are the top rebounding team in the conference with a 4.4 average margin on the boards.

While the Eagles chase a perfect conference record, Austin Peay will look to snap its eight-game losing slide that has dropped it to 4-12 in the standings. The Governors came close to a win their last time out, but fell by two points in overtime to Tennessee-Martin. Coach Dave Loos will have to find a way to get his squad to be tighter on the defensive end, as it is last in the OVC in scoring defense with 75.8 points allowed per tilt.

This will be the 103rd all-time meeting between these schools on the hardwood. Morehead State owns a slight 52-50 lead in the rivalry's history after it defeated the Governors by four points on two separate occasions during the 2011-12 campaign.

The Eagles had trouble getting the lid off the rim their last time out and converted less than 40 percent of their shots from the floor in the first half, but they limited Eastern Illinois to 6-of-19 shooting to take a nine- point lead into the break. Morehead State heated up to knock down 56.5 percent of its field goal tries to run away with it. Angelo Warner, Maurice Lewis- Briggs, Drew Kelly all scored 11 points in a balanced effort. Milton Chavis scored just eight points on 3-of-8 shooting, but he still carries a team-high scoring average of 12.3 ppg.

The Governors were in control of their bout with the Skyhawks. Austin Peay extended its lead to 51-41 midway through the second half, but UTM fought back to tie the game on a jumper with 24 seconds left to force overtime. Travis Betran and Anthony Campbell each scored 22 points and combined to shoot 16- of-16 from the foul line, while Will Triggs tallied 15 points. Betran had a chance to win it at the end of regulation for the Governors, but his three- pointer was off the mark. Betran is tied for fourth in the league in scoring with 17.1 ppg while Campbell ranks 10th at 15.3 ppg. Will Triggs and Chris Horton provide APSU with decent size and toughness inside.

The Eagles have an easy opportunity to pick up their third straight OVC win against the struggling Governors. Austin Peay will come out determined to turn things around, but Morehead State's rebounding ability gives it a slight edge.
