GAMES NOTES: The St.John's Red Storm will try to extend a three-game winning streak when they take on the Seton Hall Pirates in a Big East Conference brawl at Madison Square Garden.

Seton Hall will be looking to start a winning streak of its own in this contest as the Pirates are coming off a 55-47 victory against South Florida. The triumph ended a four-game losing streak for the Pirates who are 13-6 overall, but just 2-4 in league play. The Pirates will travel to face Georgetown next.

The Red Storm are beginning to pick up steam after a 72-60 victory over Rutgers has them just one win away of matching their longest winning streak of the season. St. John's owns a 12-7 overall mark and thanks to the winning streak has pushed itself above .500 in league play (4-3).

In the last three meetings between these programs, Seton Hall has come out on top each time. That has allowed the Pirates to make some progress in the all- time series which they trail, 54-33.

In a low-scoring affair with South Florida, Seton Hall shot at a 52.5 percent rate but by turning the ball over 17 times was unable to lead by any more than 11 points. Led by a double-double from Fuquan Edwin (16 points, 10 rebounds) the Pirates managed a 35-22 edge on the boards.

The effort was the third double-double of the season for Edwin (17.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg), who is the leading scorer for the Pirates this season. Joining Edwin in double figures are Aaron Cosby (12.1 ppg) and Eugene Teague (11.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg). Teague is perhaps more valuable for his work on the glass as he ranks second in the conference in rebounds. Cosby is a player that can really heat up from beyond the arc although he was ice cold against South Florida when he scored four points on just 1-of-7 shooting. The Pirates hold a +5.0 scoring differential on the season by netting 69.8 points per game, while shooting 45.7 percent from the floor.

JaKarr Sampson (21 points) and D'Angelo Harrison (20) each reached the 20- point plateau to lead the Red Storm over Rutgers. The Red Storm limited the hosts to just 36.5 percent shooting, while scoring 20 points off of 17 turnovers by Rutgers.

Harrison (19.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and Sampson (14.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg) have been the top two scoring options all season. Harrison is the second leading in the Big East and has scored in double figures in back-to-back games after he had a tough stretch where he managed just 15 points in two games against Notre Dame and Georgetown. As a team, St. John's is closer to the bottom of the conference on the offensive end of the floor, shooting 43.8 percent, while scoring 68.3 points per game. The Red Storm have made up for that with strong showings on the defensive end as it allows less than 40 percent shooting. Blocked shots are a major reason with Chris Obekpa (4.6 bpg) has swatted more shots than any player in the country.

St. John's has already knocked off some of the better teams in the Big East and won't have too much trouble from Seton Hall. The Red Storm will single in on Edwin defensively and keep the Pirates from getting into a rhythm on offense.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: St. John's 70, Seton Hall 63
