Dekalb, IL (Sports Network) - Led by 16 points and eight assists from Chris Fowler, the Central Michigan Chippewas handed a 69-50 loss to the Northern Illinois Huskies, in a Mid-American Conference tilt at the Convocation Center.

For the Chippewas (10-18, 3-11 MAC), Kyle Randall added 14 points and John Simons finished with 10 points, as they snapped their 10-game losing streak.

Mike Davis led the Huskies (5-22, 3-11) with 12 points and Darrell Bowie and Aksel Bolin each chipped in with 11 points.

Though it only shot 38.1 percent from the field in the opening period, Central Michigan took a 28-25 lead into the break by knocking down 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Northern Illinois made 42.3 percent of its field goal tries but missed all but one of its seven tries from beyond the 3-point arc.

After halftime, the Chippewas heated up from the field, shooting 57.1 percent from the field. They held the Huskies to 40.7 percent from the field, including 0-of-7 from 3-point range. After trailing by three early in the second half, 33-30, Central Michigan used a 15-2 run to take control of the game and escape with the road victory.

The Huskies dominated in the paint, outscoring the Chippewas 36-18. Central Michigan finished with a 21-5 scoring advantage at the free-throw line.
