Athens, OH (Sports Network) - D.J. Cooper recorded 21 points for the Ohio
University Bobcats as they handled the visiting Buffalo Bulls, 86-68, in a
Mid-American Conference matchup at the Convocation Center.
Cooper made good on 5-of-6 three-point attempts and also dished out a game-
high seven assists for the Bobcats (10-5, 1-0 MAC), who have won two in a row.
Reggie Kelly was the only other Ohio player to score in double-figures with 19
points. Jon Smith led the team on the glass with seven rebounds coming off the
bench.
Javon McCrea and Jarryn Skeete scored 13 points each while McCrea also
contributed six rebounds and four blocks for the Bulls (5-10, 0-1), who have
lost three of their last four games. Will Regan added 11 points and six
rebounds while Xavier Ford grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
The Bobcats led 53-31 at halftime after putting on a spectacular performance
from the field, hitting on 64.5 percent of their shots including 5-of-7 from
3-point range.
Buffalo outscored Ohio, 37-33, in the second half after the Bobcats cooled off
to convert just 37.5 percent from the field. The Bulls narrowed the deficit by
sinking 17 free throws after the break, but it was not enough to erase the 22-
point halftime deficit.
The Bulls turned the ball over 17 times and shot 38.2 percent from the floor
while Ohio had 10 turnovers and shot 50.8 percent.
