Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Georgetown guard Austin Freeman has repotedly developed diabetes, although the illness should not affect his career.
According to The Washington Post, the diagnosis was made after Freeman was taken to the hospital Monday for what was originally called a stomach virus. The illness caused him to miss Monday's loss at West Virginia.
The report also states that it is currently unknown whether or not Freeman will play in the team's season finale against Cincinnati on Saturday or the Big East Tourmanent that begins next week.
The junior is averaging 17 points for the 19th-ranked Hoyas, who currently sport a 19-9 overall record and sit in eighth place in the Big East with a 9-8 conference mark.
