Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Trevor Lacey scored 17 points to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide over the Vanderbilt Commodores, 58-54, in a SEC matchup at the Memorial Gymnasium.
Lacey was 3-of-4 from 3-point range for the Crimson Tide (14-7, 6-2 SEC), who have won two in a row and six of their last seven. Rodney Cooper added 11 points and seven rebounds while Andrew Steele managed 13 points off the bench. Four Alabama players had at least two steals and Levi Randolph led the pack with three.
Vanderbilt (8-12, 2-6) was led by Kedren Johnson, who had 15 points, seven rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. Kyle Fuller added 13 points off the bench for the Commodores, who have lost three in a row.
Vanderbilt led 31-23 heading into the break after shooting 57.9 percent from the field and holding the Crimson Tide to 32.0 percent shooting.
The Commodores were in control for a great deal of the second half, but after trailing by 11 points with 7:10 left, Alabama kicked it up a notch. A 13-2 run by the Crimson Tide tied the game back up for the first time since it was 0-0. Alabama continued to net unanswered baskets and closed out the game on an 18-3 run to claim the win.
Vanderbilt turned the ball over 17 times, leading to 18 points for the Crimson Tide.
