Report: Loyola-Maryland extends Patsos

(Sports Network) - Weeks after its second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history, Loyola-Maryland has reportedly given head coach Jimmy Patsos a contract extension.

A source told the Washington Times' Patrick Stevens that the NABC District I coach of the year will return after guiding the Greyhounds to their first tourney berth since 1994.

Loyola won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament before falling to Ohio State, which would eventually reach the Final Four, in the second round as a No. 15 seed.

Patsos inherited a 1-27 team and won six games in the 2004-05 season, his first at the helm, before leading Loyola to its first winning campaign in 13 years the following year.

Prior to his stint at the Baltimore university, Patsos had been an assistant at Maryland for 13 years.
