Akron, OH (Sports Network) - Chauncey Gilliam's 13 points paced four players in double figures as the Akron Zips downed the Eastern Michigan Eagles 77-47 in Mid-American Conference action at James A. Rhodes Arena.
Nikola Cvetinovic scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Zips (16-7, 8-1 MAC) who have won five straight and eight out of nine and remain in first place in the conference's East Division. Zeke Marshall and Brett McClanahan added 11 points each.
Matt Balkema scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Eagles (10-13, 5-4) who have lost three of their last four. Antonio Green added 13 points.
Akron took command early, getting out to a 39-16 halftime lead. The Zips shot 44.8 percent from the floor, while Eastern Michigan was just 4-of-20 from the field and turned the ball over 15 times.
The Eagles never got closer than 15 in the second half.
The Zips had a 46-29 advantage on the glass.
