Fort Collins, CO (Sports Network) - Melvin Johnson III and Kannon Burrage scored 14 points apiece to lead the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners to a hard-fought 83-79 win over the Fresno State Bulldogs as part of the consolation round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Moby Arena.

Johnson grabbed seven rebounds as well in the win for UTSA (3-2), while Stephen Franklin finished with 12 points to go with seven assists.

Jonathan Wills posted a game-high 26 points and grabbed seven boards to lead the way for Fresno State (2-3), which also got 18 points from Kevin Olekaibe in a losing effort. Tyler Johnson chipped in 11 points off the bench and Jerry Brown added 10 points as well for the Bulldogs, while Stephen Shepp was responsible for 10 dishes.

The Roadrunners shot at a 53.3 percent clip from the floor and converted 12- of-12 at the foul line over the opening 20 minutes to earn a commanding 48-31 halftime advantage.

But in the second stanza, the Bulldogs put together a 19-of-24 effort at the charity stripe, and managed to cut the lead to two points with a Brown layup with just five seconds remaining on the clock. Johnson was fouled on the next possession for the Roadrunners, however, and he made both free throws to seal the victory.

The Bulldogs shot just 41.4 percent from the floor in the loss, including an 8-for-28 performance from long range.
