Bethune-Cookman led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but in shooting a mere 34.8 percent from the floor the squad struggled to close strong and fell behind at the break, 34-30.

In the second half Corpus Christi knocked down 60 percent from the floor to maintain the advantage, one that reached as high as 14 points at the 8:34 mark, before holding on for the four-point triumph.

The Islanders held a huge 47-23 advantage on the glass, collecting 18 at the offensive end of the floor alone. Scoring in the paint also favored A&M which held a 42-18 edge in that department.

Both of these teams will be back in action again tomorrow afternoon with the Islanders taking on the winner of the Northern Colorado/Valparaiso meeting later today and Bethune-Cookman squaring off with the loser on the opposite side of the bracket.
