Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Ben Smith tallied 20 points and dealt out six assists, as the Jacksonville Dolphins knocked off the UCF Knights, 61-51, in the championship game of the UCF Holiday Classic.
Lehmon Colbert added nine points and six rebounds for the Dolphins (3-7), who have won two straight after a 1-7 start.
Isaac Sosa scored 12 points to lead UCF (8-5) in defeat. Keith Clanton turned in 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Knight, who were denied a fourth straight championship in their own tourney.
Jacksonville led by 15 with 7:32 left in the first half before taking a 34-27 lead into halftime. The Dolphins were 7-of-15 from outside the arc in the opening 20 minutes, while UCF was just 2-of-8 from long range.
The Knights rallied in the second half and actually held a three-point lead with 5:03 left in regulation before Jacksonville moved back in front. The Knights didn't score a field goal over the final 2:36, and the Dolphins made 15-of-20 free throws in the period to lock up the 10-point win.
UCF shot just 33.3 percent from the floor for the evening and turned the ball over 17 times.
