Mayweather released from jail

Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was released from jail early Friday morning after serving two months of a 90-day sentence for a domestic violence conviction.

Mayweather entered Clark County Detention Center on June 1 and was released early for good behavior. He pleaded guilty to one count of battery-domestic violence and no contest to two counts of harassment, striking a plea deal to avoid felony charges that could have brought a prison sentence of up to 34 years if convicted.

After being released Friday, Mayweather tweeted a picture of himself as a free man and thanked his supporters.

"Thanks for all the support and God Bless to everyone who wrote me," he tweeted.

Mayweather's former girlfriend, Josie Harris, claimed on September 9, 2010, that the boxer beat her and threatened her and their children.

The 35-year-old champ initially had his prison reporting date pushed back, allowing him to fight Miguel Cotto on May 5. He won a unanimous decision at the MGM Grand to improve to 42-0.
