Baysangurov retains WBO Jr. Middleweight title
Brovari, Ukraine (Sports Network) - Zaurbek Baysangurov retained his WBO 154- pound title with a unanimous decision over French challenger Michel Soro on Saturday.
Baysangurov (27-1, 20 KO) was knocked to the canvas in the second round, but the Russian champ battled back in the late rounds to defeat the undefeated Soro (18-1, 11 KO) on scores, 115-112, 116-111 and 117-111.
Soro had the advantage early on after sending Baysangurov to the mat with a good left hand, but the 22-year-old couldn't hold up in the latter rounds, as Baysangurov used his experience to grind out the victory and retain the title.
