 Pragelato Plan, Italy (Sports Network) - Germany's Georg Hettich leads the
 nordic combined sprint event after the jumping portion of the competition.
 
 Hettich earned 125.7 points after posting a jump of 133.5 meters off the long
 hill. The 27-year-old is aiming for his third medal at the Torino Games after
 winning gold in the individual and taking silver in the team event.
 
 Jason Lamy Chappuis of France is second with 124.4 points, while Finland's
 Anssi Koivuranta and Jaakko Tallus are third and fourth with scores of 121.5
 and 120.9, respectively.
 
 The 7.5-kilometer sprint will be held Tuesday afternoon and Hettich will begin
 the race with a five-second advantage over Lamy. Koivuranta will be 17 seconds
 behind and Tallus has a deficit of 19 seconds.
 
 Hannu Manninen is searching for his first individual Olympic medal in this his
 fourth and possibly final Winter Games, but it isn't looking good for the Finn
 after the jumping segment. Manninen has 108.3 points and is one minute and 10
 seconds behind Hettich.
 
 Manninen, the overall leader in the world cup standings, has won three Olympic
 medals (gold, silver and bronze) in the team event. The Finnish team won the
 bronze at this year's Games after taking gold four years ago.
 
 Johnny Spillane of the United States is 14th with 109.5 points and is 1:05 in
 back of the leader. Fellow American Todd Lodwick has 107.3 points and will be
 1:14 behind at the start of the race.
