 Torino,  Italy  (Sports Network)  - Host  country Italy  earned its second gold
 medal of the Torino Games by winning Thursday's final of the men's team pursuit
 speedskating event.
 
 The  Italian team  of  Matteo  Anesi, Enrico  Fabris  and Ippolito  Sanfratello
 finished  with a  time of 3:44.46 to  win the "A Final" and take the first-ever
 gold medal in this debut sport.
 
 Italy's  first gold medal  of the Games was won by Armin Zoeggeler in the men's
 individual luge.
 
 Canada finished 2.82 seconds behind Italy to earn the silver.
 
 The  Netherlands won the bronze medal by winning the "B Final" over Norway. The
 Dutch team was one of the favorites to win gold, but crashed in the semifinals.
 
 The  American team featured Chad Hedrick, winner of the men's 5,000 meters, but
 the  U.S.  only managed  a sixth-place  finish in the  pursuit after  losing to
 Russia in the "C Final."
