=== North Carolina eliminates Texas from CWS ===

Omaha, NE (Sports Network) - North Carolina starter Kent Emanuel dazzled with
a four-hit shutout, as the Tar Heels eliminated Texas from the College World
 Series with a 3-0 victory.

Emanuel fanned five and walked one batter in his second complete game of the
 season.

Jacob Stallings ripped a two-run single and Ben Bunting belted an RBI-double
among his four hits for North Carolina, which advanced to face the loser of
Monday's night game between Florida and Vanderbilt.

Levi Michael and Colin Moran added a hit apiece for Carolina.

Jonathan Walsh smacked two of Texas' four hits, while starter Cole Green took
the loss after allowing two runs in two-plus innings. He gave up five hits,
walked one and struck out one.

Tant Shepherd and Jacob Felts had the other two hits for the Longhorns, who
had lost to Florida on Saturday in their College World Series opener.

North Carolina took the lead for good in the third, when leadoff singles by
Chaz Frank and Bunting put runners on the corners. Green was pulled at that
point and Hoby Milner came in, nearly getting Texas out of the jam.

Milner struck out the first two batters he faced, but Stallings stepped up and
clubbed an 0-2 pitch into center field to plate both runners.

North Carolina tacked on another run in the ninth. Bunting smacked an 0-2
fastball from Texas reliever Andrew McKirahan off the base of the wall in
right field to plate Jeff Bouton, who had entered as a pinch-runner after Greg
Holt led off the inning with a walk.

But all North Carolina's offense needed to score was one run, given Emanuel's
brilliance. The freshman left-hander allowed only one runner to reach second
base all game and retired the final seven batters he faced.
