            === Camacho dies after being taken off life support ===
 
 San Juan, PR (Sports  Network) - Former boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho
 was  taken off  life support early Saturday  morning and died. He was 50 years
 old.
 
 According  to  the San Juan  newspaper El Nuevo  Dia, doctors took Camacho off
 life support machines at 1:40 a.m. local time.
 
 Camacho  was shot  in a  car Tuesday  and was  declared "brain  dead" Thursday
 morning.
 
 According  to police reports, Camacho was shot several times, including in the
 face,  while seated in a Ford Mustang. The shots were fired from a person in a
 second vehicle and the driver of the Mustang was killed.
 
 Police  stated that several bags of cocaine were found in the car that Camacho
 occupied and that one of the bags was open.
 
 A  former champ in the super featherweight, lightweight and light welterweight
 divisions,  Camacho posted  a record of 79-6-3 during his career, including 45
 wins by knockout. His last fight was in May of 2010.
 
 Some of Camacho's biggest fights in a three-decade career came against Roberto
 Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya and Julio Cesar Chavez.
 
 Camacho battled drug and legal issues throughout his life and was shot in 2011
 when he was the victim of a carjacking.
