Final Score: St. Louis 2, Columbus 1
St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - David Perron scored in the third period to lift the St. Louis Blues over the Columbus Blue Jackets, 2-1, on Saturday.
Chris Stewart also scored for the Blues, who snapped a two-game skid. Jaroslav Halak made 18 saves.
The victory comes just one day after St. Louis placed standout rookie Vladimir Tarasenko on injured reserve. Tarasenko suffered a concussion during Wednesday's 1-0 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
Matt Calvert scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, who fell to 1-4-0 on a six-game road trip. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 21-of-23 shots.
Columbus was without center Artem Anisimov, who suffered a head injury during Thursday's 3-2 win over the Red Wings. Anisimov was released from a Detroit hospital on Friday.
"You hold a team like this to two goals, and they had a couple of flurries where they had some opportunities, but we had some chances too," Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said. "They made one more play than we did tonight."
At the 13:55 mark of the first period, Stewart beat Bobrovsky with a shot from the top of the right circle for a 1-0 St. Louis lead.
The Blue Jackets tied the game late in the second frame on Calvert's short- handed goal. St. Louis turned the puck over in the neutral zone and Calvert went in on a breakaway.
Perron put the Blues back in front at the 9:51 mark of the third period. David Backes carried the puck down the right wing and avoided a check. He then slid a pass to the slot for Perron, whose snap shot beat Bobrovsky.
With less than two minutes remaining, Blues defenseman Barret Jackman was sent to the penalty box for boarding. Columbus pulled Bobrovsky for a two-man advantage, but the visitors failed to tie the game.
"Guys did a hell of a job tonight, especially in the second and third just blocking the shots," Halak said. "Sometimes it's not easy, it wasn't pretty at times, but we got it done. We got two points and now lets keep moving forward."
St. Louis also beat the Blue Jackets, 4-1, in Columbus on Jan. 31 ... The Blue Jackets lost defenseman Jack Johnson to an upper-body injury in the second period ... The Blues started a three-game homestand on Saturday ... Jackman played in his 616th game as a member of the Blues, becoming No. 1 all-time among Blues defenseman in that category. Jackman also now ranks fifth overall on the Blues' all-time games played list, trailing only Bernie Federko (927), Brian Sutter (779), Brett Hull (744) and Garry Unger (662).
