Description: Indianapolis TE Dwayne Allen's hip injury requires season-ending surgery.
Insight: Allen's injury should help Coby Fleener, though it could also lead to the Colts using fewer two-tight end formations, which would benefit both T.Y. Hilton and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Description: Indianapolis TE Dwayne Allen missed practices Wednesday through Friday with a hip injury and has been downgraded to doubtful for Week 2, according to Colts beat writer Stephen Holder.
Insight: Allen's MRI came back negative and the tight end said he has "seen improvement" and was "optimistic" about playing Sunday against the Dolphins. However that optimism appears to be fading.

Insight: Allen's MRI came back negative and the tight end said he has "seen improvement" and is "optimistic" about playing Sunday against the Dolphins. When Allen left last Sunday's game, the issue was initially announced as a foot injury which led us to believe he had aggravated the condition he dealt with during the preseason. However, he appears to be over that issue.

Description: Colts TE Dwayne Allen left Sunday's game against the Raiders with a foot injury and is questionable to return.
Insight: Allen probably aggravated the foot injury that caused him to miss the entire preseason. The tight end did catch a touchdown pass in the first quarter.

Description: According to Tom James of the Tribune-Star, Colts tight end Dwayne Allen (foot) was a "full go" Monday.
Insight: Allen will officially return to practice with the team Wednesday and is on track to play Week 1. His fantasy value will be limited as he'll likely split targets right down the middle with Coby Fleener.

Description: Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star says he gets "the impression" Colts TE Dwayne Allen (foot) could be ready for the start of the season.
Insight: Allen is dealing with a foot injury and is still on crutches and in a boot. With Coby Fleener dealing with injuries last season, Allen emerged as the better of the two rookies with 45 receptions for 521 yards and three touchdowns. Fleener should move ahead of Allen this year even if Allen is healthy for Week 1, but Allen's absence would boost Fleener's fantasy value.
